Clinical Psychologist
Joel completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in Australia and has been practising for more than a decade. He is a member of the Singapore Psychological Society, registered with the Singapore Register of Psychologists as well as a registered Supervisor. Joel currently offers Clinical Supervision upon request.
Joel began his career in public healthcare, then moving on to assume the academic position as Head of Counselling Program at the Singapore University of Social Sciences. Joel served as Yale-NUS College’s Psychologist for the first few years when it established in Singapore. He currently apportions a significant amount of his practice to supervising Masters of Clinical Psychology and Counselling interns.
In his practice, Joel employs a variety of therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness-Based Therapy.
He maintains a regular Mindfulness practice and exercise routine. He believes that acceptance is the primary driver of change and strives to be continually open to learning.
