Daphne Toh

Provisional Counsellor

Daphne is currently completing her Masters in Counselling with Monash University. She offers sessions at $80/session, and is closely supervised by Ms. Grace Goh.

This professional journey began with a Bachelor’s Degree, majoring in Psychology, laying a foundation for her interest in human behaviour and mental health. With 18 years of experience as a Human Resource practitioner, Daphne has developed a deep understanding of people and their diverse challenges.

In 2019, she encountered a moment that reignited her interest for counselling. The book “Being Mortal” by Atul Gawande, which delves into the profound aspects of what truly matters in end-of-life care, deeply resonated with her. This work brought back personal memories of her late grandfather, sparking a desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

She believes that a genuine, honest connection is foundational to effective therapy. By building relationships based on trust, non-judgement and acceptance, she looks to create a safe space where clients feel comfortable sharing their inner world. Her approach is rooted in the belief that no one has to navigate their challenges alone. Through empathy and understanding, she strives to empower her clients, helping them to find their path forward and fostering a sense of resilience and self-compassion. Daphne utilizes techniques from Cognitive Behavourial Therapy (CBT) and concepts of Mindfulness in her practice.

Daphne is fluent in English and is able to converse in basic Mandarin.

3 fun facts about

Daphne Toh

1.

My days usually start at 4:30AM with 5 deep mindful breaths and ends at 9:30PM with a hot beverage or glass of red wine.

2.

My children are my greatest teachers, my husband’s my safe harbour, and my dog (a Shiba) is just anti-social.

3.

Running’s my thing – I love it on most days but on others, it’s sheer torture – it’s a constant reminder that just because we love something, it’s not always easy… and it’s okay.
