Provisional Counsellor
Jan is currently pursuing her Master of Counselling at Monash University, and is closely supervised by Ms. Grace Goh during her placement here at Mind what Matters.
She has a professional background in career counselling with a local university, where she supported students in navigating career decisions and exploring their options wisely. Over the years, she began to notice underlying concerns stemming from stress, anxiety, and broader mental health struggles. This growing awareness sparked her interest in counselling, as she saw a clear opportunity to support students more holistically—addressing both their career development and emotional well-being.
Her counselling approach is person-centred, grounded in empathy, respect, and curiosity. She aims to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to explore their experiences or issues at their own pace. Jan is passionate about helping people discover the best version of themselves and define what a fulfilling life means on their own terms.
In parallel, Jan is also an aspiring coach working towards her ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential. She integrates a coaching mindset that encourages self-leadership, strengths awareness, and intentional change—complementing the deeper reflective work of counselling.
Outside of work, Jan is a mother of two boys, a coffee lover, and someone who enjoys the quiet focus of crochet. She values meaningful conversations and ongoing personal and professional growth. She strives to bring presence, compassion, and care into every conversation.
