Provisional Psychologist
Mark completed his bachelor’s degree of Social Sciences in Psychology in Singapore. He is currently pursuing his Master of Psychology (Clinical) and is under the clinical supervision of Dr. Joel Yang during his placement here at Mind What Matters.
Prior to his clinical training, Mark was previously with the National University Hospital as a case manager, supporting adolescents with depression and co-morbid challenges such as anxiety, personality disorders, and complex trauma. This role, along with previous experiences working with various hidden communities, has left Mark with a deep sense that everyone should be afforded the dignity to speak about their stories on their own terms. He believes this is key to creating a supportive, safe, and comfortable space in the therapy room, and endeavors to do this through an attitude of curiosity, warmth, and humility. Mark’s practice is shaped by exposure to modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Mark enjoys bouldering, cooking, and karaoke. Though he is not particularly proficient at any of them, they teach him to continue to delight in the present and move towards acceptance.
